Description
The AudioCodes Mediant 1000B M1KB-D1 is a ready-to-deploy SIP trunking and VoIP gateway — the standard Mediant 1000B chassis pre-configured with one T1/E1 digital voice module installed. One T1 span delivers up to 23 simultaneous voice channels; one E1 span carries up to 30. Five expansion bays remain open, so as your SIP trunking capacity or analog port requirements grow, you add modules without replacing the gateway. It's the entry point into the Mediant 1000B platform with a working T1/E1 configuration from day one.
The Telecom Spot Take
Organizations stepping up from smaller analog gateways or replacing aging PBX equipment often start with a single T1/E1 span and scale from there. The M1KB-D1 is built for exactly that path. One span gets you up to 23 concurrent calls on T1 (24 channels minus one for signaling in most configurations) or 30 on E1, which is more than sufficient for many SMB and mid-market SIP trunking deployments. And because five bays remain open, adding a second or third T1/E1 voice module as call volume grows is a module swap — no chassis replacement, no service interruption, no new IP configuration. The Mediant 1000B platform also supports E-SBC functionality via software licensing, so the same chassis can evolve into a full session border controller as your network architecture matures.
Key Features
- 1 T1/E1 span pre-installed: Ships ready for immediate SIP-to-TDM gateway operation — up to 23 simultaneous channels on T1, up to 30 on E1.
- 5 open expansion bays: Add T1/E1, BRI, analog (FXS/FXO), or DSP modules to scale capacity without replacing the chassis.
- 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports: Dual GE interfaces for SIP connectivity and optional network redundancy.
- SIP, H.323, and MGCP: Full protocol support for compatibility with hosted VoIP platforms, on-premises SIP servers, and SIP trunking providers.
- E-SBC capable: Software licensing unlocks Session Border Controller functionality on the same hardware — gateway today, SBC tomorrow.
- T.38 fax relay: Fax over IP support across all active T1/E1 channels.
- 1U rack-mountable: Standard 19-inch rack deployment with clean rear-panel cable management.
- Redundant PSU option: Add M1KB-PS-AC for active/standby power redundancy without chassis replacement.
