Description
The Valcom VIP-811A is an enhanced network station port that connects a single analog telephone handset to an IP paging and intercom system without a central server. The FXS port presents the handset as a standard analog telephone while the unit handles IP transport, delivering two-way paging, phone-to-phone calls, and caller ID over a single Ethernet connection. Two programmable form C relay closures support door unlocking, ringing indication, and audio-signal outputs. Power is PoE 802.3af Class 3 or 24 Vdc from an external supply.
The Telecom Spot Expert Review
The VIP-811A is the single-station counterpart to the VIP-814 quad unit, suited for locations where one telephone needs IP paging and intercom access without purchasing a four-port device. Front desks, guard stations, nurse call points, and individual conference rooms are typical deployments. The auxiliary audio input allows a local music or program source to feed through the unit alongside telephone-originated announcements. The peer-to-peer design means the station works independently of a central server, so a head-end network disruption does not prevent the local station from making or receiving pages.
