If your phone system has no microphone input and no easy way to tie into your overhead speakers, the Viking PI-1A paging interface bridges that gap cleanly — letting you page, play background music, and ring an electronic night bell all through your existing audio system.
The PI-1A connects to nearly any phone system's paging port and provides a floating 600-ohm output to drive your public address equipment. When someone makes a page, the built-in voice-activated (VOX) relay automatically mutes background music using its DPDT contacts, then restores it when the page ends. No paging port available? No problem — the PI-1A can supply 22V DC talk battery to connect your PA system to an unused line or trunk input on the phone system instead. It's a versatile workaround that keeps your installation clean without adding complex external hardware.
The electronic night bell feature works with either a ringing analog PABX/KSU station circuit or a contact closure from an electronic key system, making it compatible with a wide range of setups. Both ring pitch and volume are independently adjustable, so you can distinguish between multiple ringing lines in larger facilities.
