New Snom D892M Brings DECT Mobility to the D8xx Desk Phone Series - The Telecom Spot

Snom is adding a different kind of mobility option to its premium D8 Series with the new Snom D892M .

The D892M combines a full-featured SIP desk phone with an included Snom D8M cordless DECT handset. Instead of being tied to the desk by a handset cord, users can pick up the receiver and continue the call as they move around a nearby office or workspace.

What Makes the Snom D892M Different?

The D892M is still very much a premium business desk phone. It features a 5-inch 1280 × 720 IPS color display, programmable SmartLabel keys, Gigabit Ethernet, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, USB connectivity, and support for up to 12 SIP identities/accounts.

What sets it apart is the included D8M cordless handset and integrated DECT connectivity. Snom lists an indoor DECT range of up to 50 meters (about 164 feet), allowing the user to step away from the immediate desk area while staying on the call.

It is not intended to replace every type of cordless phone system. Instead, the D892M gives an individual desk-phone user a convenient way to add cordless mobility without moving to a larger multi-handset or multi-cell DECT deployment.

Who Is the Snom D892M Best For?

The D892M makes the most sense for someone who wants a premium desk phone as their main workstation phone but occasionally needs to move away from the desk during a call. Possible environments include reception areas, private offices, retail or showroom locations, and smaller workplaces where an individual user wants cordless mobility without installing a larger DECT system.

A wireless headset can already provide mobility, and for someone who spends much of the day typing, taking notes, or working hands-free, a headset may still be the better choice.

The D892M is more about preserving the familiar “pick up the phone” workflow. The cordless handset is already part of the phone, so a user can simply lift the receiver, walk away from the desk, finish the call, and return it to the cradle without relying on a separate headset accessory. The D892M also supports headset connectivity, including Bluetooth, so users are not limited to one option.

The Snom D892M is now available in the U.S. in limited initial quantities. Please contact us for current availability, particularly for larger orders.

Snom has also introduced the larger D895M, which features an 8-inch touchscreen and is already available in some markets. It is expected to follow in the U.S. at a later date, although a specific U.S. ETA has not yet been announced.
