The Viking Electronics PRX-5 is a rugged, mullion-mount 125kHz proximity card reader with integrated keypad, built for secure door and gate access in demanding environments. It combines fast non-contact card reading (up to 6 inches with standard cards) and PIN entry in one compact, weather-resistant unit. Ideal for businesses, apartments, gated communities, assisted living facilities, and outdoor entrances where both credential and code options add flexibility and security.
This reader outputs standard 26-bit Wiegand data for both the proximity reader and keypad, making it plug-and-play with Viking's entry controllers (like ES-1, ES-3, AES-2000, C-4000, or IP entry phones such as K-1700-IP). The capacitive keypad has no moving parts, reducing wear compared to membrane designs, and the entire unit features Viking's Enhanced Weather Protection (EWP) with epoxy-potted electronics and sealed connections—designed to meet IP66 standards for reliable outdoor performance.
